Cosmetic Eyelid Surgery / Blepharoplasty

Blepharoplasty (cosmetic eyelid surgery) is a procedure which improves the appearance of upper eyelids, lower eyelids or both. The aim of the procedure is give a more youthful and restful appearance.

Asian blepharoplasty is a procedure to create a double eyelid in the upper eyelid for those that do not have one naturally

Blepharoplasty procedures are performed in adult men and women who have excess or laxity in the skin, fat or muscle bulk in the upper eyelid, lower eyelid or both. The excess / laxity in the eyelid tissues can result in bags in the lower eyelid, droopy lower eyelids, overhanging skin or puffiness (due to excess fatty deposits) in the upper eyelids.

Mr Stanley Loo will assess you in his clinic at East Care Medical Specialist Centre, 260 Botany Rd, Howick, Auckland to dicuss your requirements and suitability for this procedure prior to any surgery

Good candidates for this procedure are people who have healthy facial tissue and muscles, realistic goals for the improvement of the upper and/or lower eyelids, healthy individuals who do not have a life threatening illness or medical condition that can impair healing, non smokers, and individuals who do not have a serious eye condition.

Eyelid Surgery / Blepharoplasty Recovery

Most patients feel very little pain after this procedure however there may be some swelling and bruising in the eyelids. It is recommended that you keep your head in an upright position, avoid bending and apply an icepack on your eyelids after this procedure to decrease the swelling. The swelling and bruising can take a few weeks to settle but the majority of the swelling and bruising will settle within 10 – 14 days.

Mr Loo typically puts dissolving sutures in during this procedure so that there are no sutures to be removed, minimising post operative discomfort.

Regular follow up will be made with Mr Loo to ensure that you are healing well.
